condolences

It's strange really.
Death I mean.
One moment we are here, laughing, loving, living,
then... our lungs forget to fill with air.

Death isn't about being covered in dirt or another world.
Death is about what was forgotten and left behind.
Death is about the promises life forgot to keep.
Death is forgetful that way.
Death forgets to give the living a survival kit. The living gets no band-aids for broken hearts. No neosporin to help heal the wounds faster. No ice packs to cool down the heated flames of anger and denial.

Death takes when the door is closed. Death takes on a rainy day in a room with the curtains drawn. Scariest of all death takes when unexpected and at our lowest.
Death forgets to tell the victim.

It forgets to tell them,
they were loved. They had a special place in this earth. They were NOTICED.

YOU were loved.
YOU had meaning.
YOU changed us all.

like death forgets,
never forget,
Hunter Dahl.
